T'ai Chi: A practical introduction

Updated: Apr 3

by Paul H. Crompton (1998)

Whilst browsing in second hand book shop on Stoke Newington's Church Street,

a book on T'ai Chi caught my eye and I bought it.

Unfortunately, I can't remember what the name of the book was, nor where I have put it! However, that book on Tai Chi connected with a memory from my childhood in Bangkok of an old lady moving slowly and weightlessly. My dad told me she was practicing for walking on the moon as we were out running in the park next to the Planetarium.

The book sat on my shelf for a while collecting dust, but one day I then I picked up a flyer for a class near my work, I tried it out and two years later I actually started teaching Tai Chi with the teacher of that class. Later on, he invited me to model for one of his books: Flowmotion. Whilst this book is great (especially the cover!), I'd really recommend T'ai Chi: A practical guide for beginners, by Paul H. Crompton. It gives a good introduction to the philosophy and history of T'ai Chi and Chi Kung, with helpful Step-by-Step illustrations.
